The Library aims to support CUED teaching and research activities by:
- Collaborating and building partnerships with students and academics in order to meet their needs;
- Providing the best and most relevant literature in print and electronic format;
- Training users in the use of Library resources search;
- Providing outstanding services like the Front Desk, Interlibrary Loan, Document Supply, Technical Report No., and Reference Service.

Niamh manages the Engineering Library and Information Service. This involves leading the library team, developing new services and evaluating existing ones, developing the print and electronic collections, ensuring that students and researchers are provided with support in using these resources, and whatever else lands on her desk.
Current projects include raising awareness of Open Access (especially in relation to the post-2014 REF), copyright matters, implementation of Moodle within the Department and research into library services required by the Department of Engineering.
Niamh is particularly interested in user education (information literacy) and staff development and has published and presented in these areas.
Position vacant| Information Services Librarian
The Information Services Librarian assists the Department Librarian in policy formulation and day-to-day operations of the library, provides user training, looks after the library’s online presence and has a key role in supporting the use of Moodle, the Department’s Virtual Learning Environment.

Xiaohong participates in the interlibrary loan and document supply service, catalogues books, reports, theses and other items, answers queries from Library users and is responsible for selling CUED Technical Reports and issuing each report’s number.

Samantha participates in the interlibrary loan and document supply service, is responsible for back cataloguing, and answers general queries to assist Library users. Samantha is currently coordinating the sale of books that have been withdrawn from the collection. Visit the library for more informaiton – funds raised will be divided between Cambridge RAG and the Library’s collection development budget.
